Steak, Corn in the Cob and Mashed Potatoes

How about for some steak, corn and mashed potato guys? We got this tenderloin steak wrapped with bacon from my Mother-in-law. We also bought couple of corn in the cob then mash potatoes and our dinner is served.

Strawberry Whipped Sensation

Strawberry don't last a week, they get over riped and rotten so quickly. During strawberry season I like making strawberry sensation. Here is what you need to do.
Gather all the ingredients. Btw. you can find the recipe or instructions at the back of the whipped cream label.
You can also read below the steps.

This is the last strawberry sensation I made.

The Strawberry Sensation that I made before on Jake's birthday, so simple and it taste yummyliciously sweet hehehehe. I sometimes used graham cracker instead of orio and hubby like it better than orio. So easy to make plus the ingredients are so easy to find. You can find recipe at the back label of the condensed milk or cool whip cover.

You need;
4 cups fresh strawberries, divided
1 (14-ounce) can Eagle brand sweetened Condensed Milk
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 Tub (8oz.) Cool Whip Whipped Topping, thawed, divided
8 Oreo Chocolate sandwich cookies, finely chopped (like I said I used graham cracker because I don't have available oreo cookies)
1 Tbsp. butter, melted

* Line 8x4- Inch loaf pan with foil. Mash 2 cups strawberries in large bowl. Stir in condensed milk, juice and 2 cups of Cool Whip; pour into pan.
* Top with combined chopped cookies and butter; press into mixture. Cover.
* Freeze at least 6 hours. To serve, invert dessert onto plate. Remove foil. Frost with remaining cool whip. Top with remaining strawberries, sliced.

Prep time: 20 min. (plus freezing)
I used the round cake layer because I don't have a loaf pan.

Spaghetti with Meatballs

The first time i tired the spaghetti with meatballs it came out really good. But my husband is an old school so he still prefer the simple spaghetti with ground beef on it. They still eat the spaghetti anyway? Now who wants some spaghe-tay?

Spaghetti

Pork Steak with Mashed Potato

Not my favorite food but hubby does. I am not used to eat plane pork and mashed potato. I grew up eating pork mixed with vegies and rice. Anyhow, this is so easy just place the pork steak in broil topped it with steak sauce. Broil it to low heat to avoid getting burnt or over cook. After 10 minute flip it over and put the other side with steak sauce and broil for another 10 minutes.

Spaghetti with Toasted Bread

This is my simple version of spaghetti with toasted bread. Spaghetti is just one of regular or ordinary meal for us. No wonder my people here are sick of having spag sometimes.

Ice Cream with Chocolate Syrup

Ice cream for dessert. Ice cream is an old time favorite dessert or snacks for most people all over the world. It is American #1 dessert that no matter how cold the weather temperature is, ice cream still present in their fridge.

Fried Chicken

Fried Chicken is one of the most easy to prepared dish. I marinated my meat with soy sauce, vinegar, crushed garlic and onion for 30 minutes. I mixed flour, pepper, salt, cayenne, and paprika to my breading mix to add some kick to the flavor.

Chicken Adobo

Adobo is one of the popular dish in the Philippines. It is a Philippine cuisine that involves meat or seafood marinated in a sauce of vinegar, soy sauce and garlic, browned in oil, and simmered in the marinade. There are different ways to cook Adobo and you can either use chicken, pork or seafood. Typically, pork or chicken, or a combination of both, is slowly cooked in vinegar, crushed garlic, bay leaf, black peppercorns, and soy sauce then often browned in the oven or pan-fried afterward to get the desirable crisped edges.

Just Another Food Blog

I decided to create a new blog and the niche would be FOOD. It's a fusion of food, drinks, kitchen stuff, recipes, tips and everything in between. This blog would be my collection of foods that I prepared in my own kitchen as well as foods we ate outside or ordered out. I want this blog to focus on foods and related topics. One way of enjoying and understanding each cultures all over the world from different walks of life is through Foods. So, grab your seat and let's dig in!

Hamburger Sandwich

We moved in this house on Summer 2009. My husband was so excited to grill some hamburger in our backyard. So we did it couple of times. This was one of the burger we ate then. It truly taste different when you do your own grilling and fresh meat. And oh fresh vegies too like lettuce and tomatoes. Im pretty sure you have tried it out too.

Omelet and Boiled Eggs for Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day but sometimes we tend to forget to eat breakfast and do it before lunch. We called it brunch; breakfast and lunch together. So, what food do you usually prepared for breakfast or brunch?

Omelet is the most common dish prepared on breakfast or brunch. I like omelet too but since breakfast is not my thing I sort of do it on seldom occasion only. I love eggs so how ever i do it I still eat it. My kids would prefer boiled egg though and husband like the scrambled eggs.

Chinese Food Fusion

Pancit or '"pansit"' is the term for noodles in Filipino cuisine. Noodles were introduced into the Philippines by the Chinese and have since been adopted into local cuisine.

image from wikipedia

Last year FOOD and people meet and match making the city a melting pot of cultures. This celebration shall "strengthen the cooperation between the Chinese and Filipino communities in order to foster better relationship and unity, as well as to enhance understanding of each other." said the coordinator and Chairman of the parade.

The Filipino-Chinese community had kicked in last February for annual Spring Festival Celebration for the Year of the Metal Tiger. Through its food as one way of enjoying and understanding each cultures and of course pancit is the number one in the list of delicious food that both Filipino and Chinese enjoyed during merienda, next would be the popular Hototai soup that you can order on special occasions.

Nancy Reyes Lumen of the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism writes that according to food lore handed down from the Chinese, noodles should be eaten on one's birthday. They are therefore commonly served at birthday celebrations and Chinese restaurants in the Philippines often have "birthday noodles" listed on their menus. However, she warns that since "noodles represent long life and good health; they must not be cut short so as not to corrupt the symbolism.

Citrus

Some of us has allergy with citrus and some like it. I like citrus, i used them for juice, food accompaniment, add them in my dipping sauce with soy sauce and vinegar, and a lot more. I just want to share what i learned when I research about citrus.

Is Citrus Making You Sick?

If you find yourself falling ill after eating acidic fruits, vegetables, or other products, you could have a citrus or citric acid allergy. Read on to learn how to identify, manage, and even prevent these reactions.
A Range of Problems
Various types of allergies and intolerances to citrus, citric acid and foods with high acidic properties do exist, but doctors say that they are usually quite rare. As a result, there isn't a great deal of information readily available about the topics, posing challenges for the people trying to get to the root of their problem, and for doctors who are putting all of the pieces together to make a proper diagnosis.
Citrus Allergy
If you are allergic to citrus fruits, this is actually quite different from having a citric acid allergy, since the allergen is not the acid itself but a protein in the fruits. Citrus fruits can include a range of common fruit items, including clementines, grapefruits, kumquats, oranges, lemons and limes.

If you fall ill after eating acidic foods, a citrus allergy could be to blame.

Types of Citrus Fruit

All citrus fruit is acid fruit. The acid fruits are the most detoxifying fruits and excellent foods.
They should be avoided when you have the flu because the body could overreact detoxifying and make you even more sick. Some people may have problems with these fruits because of their acid content. The acid though is a healthy and organic nutritional element. For instance: ascorbic acid is vitamin c, found especially in fruits and vegetables.

Top 6 health benefits of Citrus
According to -Dr. Mao
Dr. Maoshing Ni a Yahoo! Health Expert for Alternative Medicine

1. Skin care
Citrus is considered a superfood for healthy skin. Many studies have confirmed the healing properties of oranges, which are attributed to a wide array of phytonutrients that function as antioxidants, including flavanones, anthocyanins, polyphenols, and vitamin C.
2. Bone Health
Calcium and vitamin D are essential for bone health. While calcium is necessary to build and maintain bone, vitamin D is needed because the body cannot absorb calcium without it. Although cow's milk has traditionally been credited as the number-one food for strong bones, studies show that your body is able to absorb both calcium and vitamin D from orange juice as readily as from milk.
3. Heart Protector
Citrus peel contains beneficial compounds such as polymethosxylated flavones (PMFs) and d-limonene that have been found to lower cholesterol, balance blood sugar, and activate liver detoxification.
4. Digestion Power
In Chinese cuisine, orange peel is often served as an accompaniment to red meat. The reason for this is that, according to Chinese medicine, orange peel aids in digestion of rich, fatty foods. One recommendation for better digestion is to start every day with lemon water -- using the juice of one lemon squeezed into 12 ounces of room temperature filtered water. This lemon water is slightly acidic, which helps to cleanse and move the roughage that stays behind in your intestines and system. Also, don't forget one of the major health benefits of drinking lemon water: It can pave the way for weight loss!
5. Eyesight Defender
Cataracts, a degenerative eye disorder that usually shows up as we age, are usually the result of free radical damage. The antioxidants in citrus fruit come to the rescue by neutralizing the damage to the retina caused by these free radicals. In studies it was found that high doses of vitamins E and C worked together to prevent cataracts even in high-risk groups.
6. Mood Enhancer
Most people link oranges to vitamin C, but they are also high in folate. Folate is believed to play a role in the creation of serotonin -- the brain's happy chemical. Even the smell of citrus fruits can enhance your mood. Studies show that the citrus scents, such as lime, lemon, grapefruit, and orange, can lift your mood and increase your energy. Essential oils of these fruits can be dabbed on your temples or at the back of the neck for a burst of alertness.
Enjoy your citrus guys, and have a fun weekend!

Shrimp Linguine with Mushrooms and Garlic

I always get free recipes from mydailymoment.com or MDM's Recipe of the day on the mail. This one looks delicious for shrimp lover people. You might wanna try this at your kitchen.

This recipe won't be prepared in vein. Rich in flavor and ingredients, it doesn't skimp on great taste. It's a seafood pasta that makes for one shell of a meal.

Ingredients
1 lb. peeled & deveined shrimps
3 tbsp. butter
8 oz. mushrooms, sliced
3 med. garlic cloves
1/2 tsp. dried rosemary, crumbled
Freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
Salt to taste
4 oz. dried linguine
2 oz. Bel Paese cheese, cut into small cubes
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Methods/steps
Melt butter in a heavy, large skillet over a medium low heat. Add garlic and mushrooms and a generous amount of fresh grated coarse black pepper. Cook until mushrooms exude their juices, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes. Add shrimp and cook until they are starting to turn pink. Add cream and shrimp until sauce thickens slightly, about 3 minutes and season with salt. Meanwhile, cook pasta in large pot of boiling, salted water. Add oil to water to keep pasta from sticking together. Drain well. Add pasta and cheese to sauce and stir until cheese melts. Transfer to plates. Sprinkle with parsley and serve.
